Meet the two beagles who started it all!
Chipper
My love for beagles started back in the
fall of 2004 when this sweet little boy came into my life and taught me
responsibility, patience, discipline, and love like nothing I had ever
experienced before. We had always had family dogs but Chipper was my
first dog which meant the responsibility of caring for him fell into my
hands.

Chipper is now 11 years old and still teaches me new things all the time like how to keep the trash out of reach of nosy beagles and what signs to look for when your dog is in pain and that if he’s in your face barking and licking you uncontrollably, he’s not going to stop until you feed him. My love for this sweet beagle somehow continues to grow everyday. (Even if he does get into the trash every once in a while.)
I would venture to say that almost every dog lover has a favorite breed of dog.
Beagles are my breed.
Cali
In June of 2008, my love for beagles (and “wanna-beagles“)
grew even more when I rescued Cali from the SPCA. Her paperwork said
that she was a 2 year old beagle/hound mix but they weren’t too sure of
her background and her story. She was brought to the Orlando SPCA from
Alabama and was the sweetest little girl with a slight fear of men. I
went in looking for another full-bred beagle but couldn’t help but love
her sweet smile and the little dance she would do when you smiled and
spoke to her.
We couldn’t bring her home right away
because she needed to be spayed so she was pretty out of it when we
finally did bring her home. We were totally fooled though because as
soon as she healed up, Cali was active and hyper as ever!
Cali didn’t get to meet Chipper until a
few weeks later since he was staying with my mom for a few months while I
was moving into a new place. She wasn’t thrilled with him and even
growled when they first met but they grew to love each other and are now
the two bestest friends!
